Ms. Phuong teaches math, but she also champions reading for her whole school. In fact, her class has checked out the most books from the child-friendly library which was developed in partnership with YWAM Mercy Vietnam.
Passionate about reading, Ms. Phuong has borrowed many books from the library and written reviews to hang in the library to help students get excited about the books.

Thanks to the library activities and training from YWAM Mercy and Mrs. Minh [YWAM’s Reading Consultant], I have access to interesting knowledge like this. We still have many shortcomings, so we hope that they will continue to help our school so that we will be more progressive in teaching and developing a reading culture for students!

Students love Ms. Phuong because of her devotion and tenderness. The students were also particularly interested in her reading skills lessons.
They really like [my reading lessons] and always look forward to learning about reading skills.
Because of joining YWAM Mercy’s training program on developing a reading culture, Ms. Phuong has learned many new teaching methods to make her lessons more effective and interesting. She uses a lot of fun and useful activities that make the students more actively participate, and also helps them better understand the importance of reading.

Ms. Phuong is typical of a generation of young and enthusiastic teachers who are constantly learning. We hope that she and all teachers will continue to work to develop a strong reading culture in their school to help students have a better future.
