The day started bright and early as 26 Yokogawa employees and their families set out from Hanoi for “Cleaning Day” at the Phu Chau Children’s Home 60 km away. This Love Our Environment, Love Our Community event reflects the company’s strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Shortly after their arrival, Mr. Michael, the Yokogawa Vice Director, met with representatives of Ba Vi District, the Phu Chau People’s Committee, and the Children’s Home, while other team members organized gifts for the children including 30 boxes of instant noodles, 5 boxes of milk, along with 69 books and some toys. Mr. Michael presented 8 million (about US$350) dong for the Children’s Home to Mr. Hoa, Chairman of the People’s Committee, as the staff and children expressed their appreciation.

I really like to drink milk, because drinking milk is so good and good for me. I hope to grow as fast as the other brothers sisters in the Home.

Yokogawa employees shared their commitment to a clean environment with the children through a presentation on waste management. A waste classification game increased their connection with children, and raised awareness about putting waste in its proper place and reusing or recycling when possible to protect the environment.

Playing the game helped the children understand about each type of waste and how to dispose of it properly. Each person participating in the game also received a small prize. After that, everyone worked together to clean the Home. Yokogawa employees and Home members worked together in small groups. They cleaned doors, removed cobwebs, picked up rubbish, swept the yard, and weeded the grass along the fence.

Because of the social distancing required by the Covid epidemic, from Lunar New Year [in February] up to now, this is the first group of visitors to come to us. Meeting, sharing, playing and receiving gifts, made the children so happy. We would like to thank the Yokogawa company, and all the Aunties and Uncles that came and their families very much.
