More than 105 people met together for the YWAM Mercy Vietnam Children’s Homes Sponsor’s Day event held at the Phu Chau Children’s Home on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Sponsors who were able to attend came excited to meet their sponsored child(ren).  Likewise, the children looked forward to time with the sponsors, whether they were their personal sponsor or the sponsors of their “brothers and sisters” in the Homes.

Since the first Sponsor’s Day in 2016 this has become and annual event. On this day, children share art work, put on performances, and organize games to play with their sponsors. They also shared about special events that happened to them in the past year.

The children in the Van Hoa and Tan Linh Homes recently learned to play traditional instruments of various Vietnamese ethnic minority groups and shared their talents with the audience. Many of the children are of the Muong minority group and were proud to share these sounds from their cultural heritage. Children in the Tan Linh Home learned how to play the instruments from local musicians, while children in the Van Hoa Home showed their initiative and resourcefulness by learning from clips they found on the internet!

The sponsor’s visit created a lot of joy and brought happiness to the children in all three Homes.  They said,

I’m so happy to see my sponsor “parents” more often than before, so my sponsors can see me growing up bigger and better.

When I heard my sponsor would come to visit, I loved this news. This is the first time I met my sponsors.
