In Vietnam, mid-Autumn Festival is always a special day for children. Kids excitedly decorate a tray of fruits, carry star-shaped lights together and enjoy a delightful lion dance. This year, children in YWAM Mercy’s Community-based Children’s Homes had a meaningful and enjoyable celebration.

YWAM Mercy collaborated with local People’s Committees and the Youth Union, in organizing the event dubbed “Happy Mid-autumn Festival” with all 54 children in the Children’s Homes. Particularly, the event in Phu Chau had the Ba Vi District Steering Committee, village leaders, YWAM and volunteers in attendance (see photos above).

During the event, besides the typical traditional activities of the full-moon night, children also had the opportunity to perform different plays. It was wonderful to see their happy smiles.

The children also have the opportunity to learn about the traditional folk tales like the lunar goddess Hang Nga (Miss Moon) and her friend Cuoi through a trivia game. Children excitedly and confidently participated in the game with the hopes of winning a special prize.

I was touched by the presence of local leaders, YWAM Mercy staff, and volunteers at our party. It is not only the care but also your love for us. As you know, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a reunion occasion for everyone. And for us, this moon is so full.
