Children in our three Homes finished their 2018 – 2019 school year in the last week of May with better results than the last school year.

In the Vietnamese education system, students with an overall average score for all subjects from 8.0 to 10.0 are considered excellent students.
Good level, average level and weak level is 6.5 to 7.9; 5.0 to 6.5 and under 5.0 respectively.
When we met with extend-family members in early June, they shared our excitement about the children’s significant effort and results. The number of children who achieved excellent results increased to 14% compared to 5% last year. The number of good students also increased from 31% to 39%. The special thing is that some Excellent and Good students this year are in Upper Secondary School, where the study program is even more difficult.

Besides discussing the children’s study results, we also shared with the families about the children’s daily routine during the school year. We also arranged the collaboration between extended families and the Children’s Homes in caring for children during the 2-month summer vacation.

Last summer, we organized a swimming course for children in Quang Binh province. In order to promote safety for those who want to continue practicing their swimming techniques this summer, children and families committed to swimming as a group under home staff supervision. They promised absolutely not to swim in a river, stream, pond or lake by themselves. Children in the Phu Chau community where one of our Homes is located usually swim every afternoon at the lake near the village pagoda. Children in Home will gather at Children’s Home and go to swim with Mr. Thuyet, the Home manager.
We want a safe and fun summer vacation for all the children in our care.
